Saturday night was an awesome time. SaturDAY was also an awesome time. A bunch of us (Big Rob, Kristen, Shelly, Linda, Kyle, Bre, and Mastro) all went to show our support for Vicki who participated in the Holiday Throwdown at North Haven CrossFit. Vicki competed against a bunch of females half her age and still kept up with them! She did amazing and I couldn’t be more proud of her and her work ethic to get to the point of where she’s at today. Vicki has the biggest heart in the world and puts all of it into her workouts. She rubs her motivation off onto every single member at CF845. No matter what time she finishes a WOD she always smiles. And that’s what she did on Sunday. Did she finish first? No. But she continued to leave it all out there while no matter what the standings were. Vicki was nervous, but rightfully so. Her reps were great with full lockouts for every exercise.
Which brings me to my next point. What I witnessed there was a tragedy. It was downright despicable. It reinforced why we are so strict here at CF845. The reps at the competition were disgusting. There was a complete lack of locking out, especially with the KB Swings. I wanted to throw up. Some of the people doing the pull ups weren’t even get their chins even close to the bar. COUNT IT! You fucking kidding me? Back to the KB Swings, their elbows were shaped like macaroni elbows. The poor form reflected three people: the competitor, their coach, and their judge at the competition. The judges should have called out each competitor not completing a good rep. It was a shame, but it made me pretty proud to know that we drive home great form with good standards. I have video evidence on my phone of the atrocity. This video also has some evidence. Look at the KB Swings.
North Haven CrossFit had a great gym. They were well organized to say the least. The energy was very high. It made all of us want to workout and compete. I hope next year they set better standards and stick to them.
Today we are going to do both AMRAPs from the competition. You can see how you stack up by clicking the same link I’ve provided for the video above. The results are there. They calculated by total REPS rather than rounds
