- “Dave I just wanted to say thanks for all you do. Watching all the people today that were involved in the challenge and what the outcome was is incredible. I know when I finished I was amazed and truly we owe it all to you. Make sure you pat yourself on the back because you made us who we are now. Thanks again”
I received that email last night with a huge smile on my face.
I couldn’t be more proud than the group of people who participated, and even fell off, in the Paleo 1.0 Challenge over the last 4 weeks. I couldn’t imagine myself having any other job. Fuck that, it’s not a job. It’s not work. It’s just spending time with like-minded people day-in and day-out. Who’s got it better than that? I’m extremely humbled by the past 8 months, especially this past month. The success stories I hear as frequent as I do you can’t receive anywhere else. It’s surreal to me that I’ve created such an environment, and to facilitate such a place allows me to feel like I have met my means to an end at such a young age. I’m truly blessed.
Proven. Everyone who participated in the first Paleo 1.0 WOD smashed their previous time. That’s incredible. EVERYONE. If that’s not proof that eating right, sleeping properly, and getting your ass kicked in the gym then I don’t know what is. The results will be posted tonight because some people have to still complete the WOD.
The changes that we’ve seen in the gym were relentless – whether that was weight-loss, increase in strength, faster times, quicker rests, more energy, and/or happier people in general. We fought together and struggled together because that’s what CrossFit is. We helped each other with recipes and ways to not make paleo simply boring and repetitive. We cheated, yes, but consciously. We hopped right back on the bandwagon after a cheat meal.
As for me I plan on continuing paleo. As strict? No. It’s good to keep yourself sane and enjoy a Super Bowl amongst drinking buddies or indulging in a summer barbecue and shoving a weiner (hot dog) down your throat. However the paleo lifestyle is definitely not a diet but rather the way we were intended to live by until the government and pharmeceudical companies tried to fuck that up. There is some serious shit out there killing us and the ones around us. I want to be around for the rest of my life – healthy.
I owe a ton of credit to Jess. She choreographed the entire challenge and accumulated all of the points. Jess has been a clutch trainer but even better friend to me. So when you see her give her a big “thank you.”
You know the drill if you missed yesterday and want to participate in the Paleo 1.0 WOD. For everyone else here’s what we’ve got today.
